AMERICA 250 GRANT

WHAT IS THE GRANT FOR?

America 250 Grants are offered as a new, limited-time grant program awarded in amounts of up to $2,500 in matching funds for an event, project or patriotic program that celebrates the nation's 250th birthday.

This grant is intended to fund smaller projects and one-time patriotic events in addition to the funds provided by Mini-Grants and Regular Grants.

The following project ideas that may be eligible for funding (this list is by no means exhaustive and different grant proposals are always welcome):

  • Promote civic engagement through patriotic events

  • Promote patriotism through parades

  • Promote patriotic concerts

  • Promote patriotism by exhibiting American flags around a city

  • Promote local history through dedication of monuments, landmarks or exhibits in support of America 250 (e.g. America 250 time capsule, America 250 historical marker, America 250 museum exhibit)

  • Promote education through historical re-enactments

  • Promote ideals of patriotism, democratic ideals (including traveling programs, speakers, and essay or speaking contests relating to such areas)

  • Provide unique educational opportunities not offered in existing programs

WHAT IS THE APPLICATION PROCESS?

The Mary Chilton DAR Foundation has allotted $50,000 in total for the grant program, and applicants for America 250 Grants will be considered until either the May 2026 board meeting or until the $50,000 allotment is depleted (whichever comes first).

  1. Applicants must complete the Mary Chilton DAR Foundation America 250 Grant application form listed above (general grant policies as found on this website also apply).

    Applicants are required to attach supporting documents outlining existing project/event/program funds in the application form.

  2. Applications must be received by the following schedule. Applications received after the deadline will be held for consideration at the next application deadline:


    November 5, 2025

    January 5, 2026

    March 5, 2026

    May 5, 2026

  3. The successful grant applicant will be chosen based on their project, event or program's potential to make a genuine, effective contribution to celebration of the nation's 250th birthday.
